Summary
Some of us have purchase the new Audigy 2 ZS Notebook Edition PCMCIA sound card and most of us have heard about the horrible static problems that are being caused by the card and its incompatibility with our laptops PCMCIA chipset (EnE 1410). A few fixes have been found and they seem to work on a laptop by laptop basis. Here are some of the simpler fixes.
Fix #1 (Simple)
- Download and install the latest EnE 1410 Chipset Drivers
- Click the 'Default' button on the bass controls in the EAX Console.
- Run the card in standard mode which defeats the purpose of buying the card in the first place but at least it will work.
Fix #2 (Advanced)
This fix involves adjusting the PCI Latency value of the PCMCIA Bus in a hopes to boost the resources given to your Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card and remove the static. Here's how you do it.
Conclusion
I haven't used this card in a long while so I'm not sure if the information in this guide is applicable anymore. I've had the above two solutions work for me before and had them not work for me as well. Don't ask me why.
